Dedication

There are so many things we can dedicate to the Lord, but in my opinion one of the greatest is our children.  I really enjoy baby dedications.  It is beautiful to see a man and his wife go to the front of the church and dedicate their baby to the Lord and their lives as parents to train that child in the ways of His Word.  The seriousness of this ceremony hits me and it is good.  It is a covenant we make with the Lord that as we do our best as parents training our child in the ways that they should go, that child will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.  One of the blessings of homeschooling is that we have that opportunity to daily train up our children.  I hope that as couples dedicate their little ones that they really grasp the covenant they are making before God and man.

Last Sunday I got to be on the Grandparent side of the dedication and it was beautiful.  As we walked up to the stage with Brent, Latisha, and August, I was filled with such happiness and had to fight back the happy tears.  I know Brent and Latisha will do their best to raise August for the Lord and it so blesses me.  August did amazing and was extremely handsome.  God is good and we are so grateful to be watching our children passing the Christian faith to their own children.  As grandparents I hope we can also be positive influences in the lives of our grand babies.  I look forward to many, many more to come with a grateful heart.  Have a great day, and remember God is good.  Alicia

Birthday Getaway

It seems like this summer has been fast and crazy.  Last year we sold our motorhome, thinking we would go back to a trailer.  We wanted something with more room and that we could leave when exploring an area.  We found a beautiful trailer with a slide out that fits our family very comfortable.  As things don't always go as you would like, first we found out it was a 2009 and not a 2010 as we had been informed.  Then we had to replace the tires.  But after all was said and done it was still an amazing deal.

Next we were unsure wether our current vehicle could handle the added weight.  We finally took it on its maiden voyage -to us-  in June. It did fine but we weren't real comfortable with how it did.  So, we began the search for a vehicle big enough for our family and powerful enough to handle our lovely trailer.  Finally, after some very diligent search we found the vehicle.  What better excuse for a trip then a birthday.  David has been amazing in finding us good vehicles and the trailer with very good deals.... so I took his birthday weekend as a reason to try out the new set up.

With temperatures in the hundreds here, the mountains weren't all that much cooler.  I found us a cute little rv park with hookups that allowed us to use our air conditioner in the trailer to it's fullest.  It was just the two of us and we enjoyed our time away.  The mountains were beautiful and peaceful.  I highly recommend married couple getaways.  Things can get so wrapped up in kids that time alone overnight it so very nice.

David enjoyed his get away present and I even got to be blessed with a get away also.  The day we got back home we celebrated his birthday with family and pizza.  We feel so blessed to have such a loving family and a huge thank you once again to my mom who not only watched our kids but made sure they also had a great weekend, Love you Mom.

Most importantly Happy Birthday to my Amazing hubby and may God richly bless you!!!

Have a great day.

Another New Driver

Well, we keep losing our drivers around here, but we are trying to make up for it.  Sierra just finished drivers ed and did extremely well.  As a homeschool mom I feel pressure that my kids will do well outside the home.  It is like they are representing all homeschoolers which really isn't fair to place that pressure on the student.  So, I just sat back and watched her take this all very serious.

Just before Sierra began driver's ed a friend's son was in a terrible accident.  He had been in a very serious motorcycle accident, caused by a truck turning in front of him on a 55 mph road.  Unfortunately he lost his right leg and his left femur was crushed.  Their son and their family have done amazing and have been rejoicing that it was just a leg and not his life.  The past weeks have been full of ups and downs.  Moments after his accident a Marine who was trained in Combat Medicine just happened upon the accident and also a nurse.  They were able to treat this young man before the ambulance got there.  He has had several surgeries and is not totally out of the woods but he knows God is with him.  I have to say their faith in God has been a great inspiration to me.   I know prayers are always welcome, that he will heal quickly and get home to his family.

This accident alerted Sierra to the seriousness of being an attentive driver.  The truck driver didn't even see the motorcycle.  I had Sierra drive me home from her class, after a quick stop for a treat, and she was a very cautious and alert driver.  I think it is good for all of us to remember how important it is to pay attention while we drive.

Sierra did awesome in her drivers ed class and finished at the top of the class.  She represented homeschooler well. :)  After class each day she would come home and study, work on homework, and do extra credit.  She took it all very serious.  Sometimes things just happen but I know she will be a good, attentive driver.  Now we have 6 months to drive with her before she actually gets her driver's license.  Then, yeah, we will have another driver in the family.  God is good and we pray protection over each of our children and David as they drive about in their daily lives.  I hope you are all having a blessed day.

One Month

Look at our handsome young man.  Had to update a couple pictures as he has aged and is now one month old and simply adorable.  Latisha and Brent are awesome at this parenting thing and it blesses me when Latisha mentions Brent reading August a book or Latisha just wanting to cuddle with him just a bit longer even though he is asleep.  They are cherishing every moment as we all should.  Cherish each moment with your loved ones today and God bless.

Getting wedding pictures is like opening a gift.  Some are so wonderful and just bring back happy memories.  It becomes a bit addicting as I fight with my computer, trying to figure the trick to downloading them on my new photo ap apple changed without my approval.  I am pleased to now share some of my favorites.  Please enjoy the beautiful pictures.
God bless Alicia
These first set of pictures were actually taken after the wedding by a friend.  I thought they were great and wanted to share them also.
