Dedication

There are so many things we can dedicate to the Lord, but in my opinion one of the greatest is our children.  I really enjoy baby dedications.  It is beautiful to see a man and his wife go to the front of the church and dedicate their baby to the Lord and their lives as parents to train that child in the ways of His Word.  The seriousness of this ceremony hits me and it is good.  It is a covenant we make with the Lord that as we do our best as parents training our child in the ways that they should go, that child will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.  One of the blessings of homeschooling is that we have that opportunity to daily train up our children.  I hope that as couples dedicate their little ones that they really grasp the covenant they are making before God and man.

Last Sunday I got to be on the Grandparent side of the dedication and it was beautiful.  As we walked up to the stage with Brent, Latisha, and August, I was filled with such happiness and had to fight back the happy tears.  I know Brent and Latisha will do their best to raise August for the Lord and it so blesses me.  August did amazing and was extremely handsome.  God is good and we are so grateful to be watching our children passing the Christian faith to their own children.  As grandparents I hope we can also be positive influences in the lives of our grand babies.  I look forward to many, many more to come with a grateful heart.  Have a great day, and remember God is good.  Alicia

Birthday Getaway

It seems like this summer has been fast and crazy.  Last year we sold our motorhome, thinking we would go back to a trailer.  We wanted something with more room and that we could leave when exploring an area.  We found a beautiful trailer with a slide out that fits our family very comfortable.  As things don't always go as you would like, first we found out it was a 2009 and not a 2010 as we had been informed.  Then we had to replace the tires.  But after all was said and done it was still an amazing deal.

Next we were unsure wether our current vehicle could handle the added weight.  We finally took it on its maiden voyage -to us-  in June. It did fine but we weren't real comfortable with how it did.  So, we began the search for a vehicle big enough for our family and powerful enough to handle our lovely trailer.  Finally, after some very diligent search we found the vehicle.  What better excuse for a trip then a birthday.  David has been amazing in finding us good vehicles and the trailer with very good deals.... so I took his birthday weekend as a reason to try out the new set up.

With temperatures in the hundreds here, the mountains weren't all that much cooler.  I found us a cute little rv park with hookups that allowed us to use our air conditioner in the trailer to it's fullest.  It was just the two of us and we enjoyed our time away.  The mountains were beautiful and peaceful.  I highly recommend married couple getaways.  Things can get so wrapped up in kids that time alone overnight it so very nice.

David enjoyed his get away present and I even got to be blessed with a get away also.  The day we got back home we celebrated his birthday with family and pizza.  We feel so blessed to have such a loving family and a huge thank you once again to my mom who not only watched our kids but made sure they also had a great weekend, Love you Mom.

Most importantly Happy Birthday to my Amazing hubby and may God richly bless you!!!

Have a great day.
